On a cold, starry night just minutes before midnight on Christmas Eve 2020, our founder embarked on one of the most heartwarming and unforgettable rescues we’ve ever had the privilege to be part of. This is the story of Margo, a stunning silver fox cross morph, and her journey to a safe and loving home.
Margo’s adventure began when her owner, who had recently moved to the UK from Poland, was unaware of the challenges posed by the British landscape and regulations when it comes to keeping exotic foxes. Like any curious creature, Margo escaped several times, leaving her owner frantic and unsure of how to keep her safe. The local community quickly became familiar with the elusive fox, her shimmering silver coat catching the eyes of anyone lucky enough to spot her as she darted through the countryside.
In the days leading up to Christmas Eve, Margo had once again slipped through the cracks, leaving her owner devastated. But this time, things would be different. Black Foxes UK, fueled by determination and a growing network of supporters, sprang into action.
That fateful night, our founder, together with Margo’s owner, set out on a mission. Equipped with knowledge of her usual escape routes, they began to track her movements. Meanwhile, our social media campaign was gaining momentum. The local community rallied to help, reporting sightings and updates in real-time, which filled us with hope. It felt as if the whole town was holding its breath, united in the quest to bring Margo home safely.
The thrill of the chase escalated when a man and his young son arrived on the scene in a 4x4, decked out with tracking equipment. It felt like a real-life adventure, as everyone worked together to locate Margo before the night was over. The bond between the rescuers, locals, and our team grew stronger with every passing minute, creating a magical sense of unity and purpose.
As the clock neared midnight, the search led to a small clearing. Margo, as if sensing the compassion surrounding her, didn’t run this time. She was captured swiftly and gently, her bright eyes filled with a mix of curiosity and relief.
With Margo safe and sound, her owners made the difficult but noble decision to allow us to rehome her somewhere more suitable for her needs. After a brief stay at Feadon Farm, it became clear that Margo wasn’t getting along with the resident foxes. But as fate would have it, her story wasn’t over yet. She found her forever home at a private exotic rescue, where she now lives happily alongside another silver fox, Dino.
Today, Margo is thriving, secure, and adored in her new environment, a testament to the power of community, determination, and love. Her story will forever hold a special place in our hearts, especially as it unfolded during such a poignant time—reminding us all that even on the most magical nights, miracles can happen when people come together for a good cause.
Margo’s Christmas Eve rescue will always be a cherished success story here at Black Foxes UK, and we are beyond grateful to everyone who helped us along the way.
