The British Canid Historical Society is working on a project to capture the oral histories of the people who were employed within historical (and soon to be historical) fox farms in the UK and Europe.
We are very keen to hear from those people or their relatives, who can share stories and knowledge about these historic farms, the animals kept and the people who worked in them.

There were 11 fur farms left in the UK just prior to the fur farming ban in 2000, most of which had ceased breeding foxes many years earlier, (the last known fox farm closed in 1982).
We would like to know more about these historic fox farms in the UK, as well as those in Europe (both historic and current fox farms).
Historic UK fox farms included:
Hollywood Silver Fox Farm, Lincolnshire
Mytholm Fur Farm, Halifax
McLelland and Partners, London
Lumphanan Silver Fox Farm, Aberdeenshire
Sheringham Zoo and Silver Fox Farm, Norfolk
Hyde Silver Fox Farm, Norwich
Tingwall Silver Fox Farm, Shetland

Please email britishcanidhistoricalsociety@gmail.com if you have documents, photos, newspaper cuttings or oral accounts of these farms and their staff that you are willing to share.
Thank You.
